Legal Advocates for Safe Science and Technology (LASST) announced a lawsuit against OpenAI on September 29. Its announcement says it filed in San Francisco Superior Court over the previously documented Hugging Face incident.

The published complaint requests restrictions on unauthorized access by OpenAI or its AI agents. LASST seeks no financial damages, but does request legal fees.

OpenAI spokesperson Drew Pusateri told WIRED the suit was without merit. His response was added on September 30.

This risk signal records a concrete civil-society response, not another AI incident. The allegations remain disputed. LASST's published copy has no case number; no court ruling has been verified.
