Microsoft AI opened public consultation on its first draft code of conduct for MAI models on September 14, 2026.
The draft calls for human control and says models should not resist correction or shutdown.
The crucial qualification is in the preface: Microsoft is not using this draft to train today's models.
After consultation, a revised version is intended to guide development from 2027. That documents an intention, not a demonstrated safeguard.
