OpenAI pledges three years of support for the Digital Wellness Lab at Boston Children’s Hospital. Its October 7 announcement says young people will help shape AI safeguards.

OpenAI plans to seek feedback on safety defaults, parental controls and notifications. It does not specify resulting changes or implementation deadlines.

The lab’s existing youth council has two tracks for the 2026-27 school year. Its AI-focused track includes hands-on tests and jointly authored recommendations to developers.

The lab says it independently runs the council. Its program page confirms the AI work but does not mention OpenAI’s new funding pledge. The pledge does not yet demonstrate more effective parental alerts.
