President Donald Trump announced the formation of a Super Intelligence Force on October 4. He says the new AI task force will coordinate federal efforts and protect Americans' interests.

Trump names intelligence director Jay Clayton, FTC chair Andrew Ferguson, Pentagon technology chief Emil Michael and personnel agency director Scott Kupor as its leaders. The group will report to him and chief of staff Susie Wiles.

Its remit includes engagement with consumers, public-interest groups, religious organizations, critical infrastructure providers and AI companies. Trump links this work to maintaining US technological leadership.

The announcement follows voluntary safety commitments by leading AI companies at the White House. Trump's post does not explain what intervention powers the group will have or how the coordination will be implemented.
