Anthropic petitioned on October 13 for rehearing of the decision upholding its designation as a national-security supply-chain risk. The filing goes to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

The dispute concerns restrictions on lethal autonomous warfare and mass surveillance. Anthropic challenges the statute’s interpretation and the process preceding its designation.

The company also alleges punishment for its public AI-safety positions. The challenged court majority had rejected that retaliation argument.

The filing requests review by the original panel or the full court. It does not grant rehearing or overturn the September decision.
