ByteDance’s AI research unit Seed has created an Alignment & Preparedness team and plans to recruit ten researchers worldwide. Its own announcement was published on October 14.
The programme includes safety evaluations for AI agents, automated red teaming and monitoring model behavior. Seed promises long-term research support and computing resources.
Seed also proposes independent third-party evaluations and partnerships with universities and research institutions. Reuters confirmed the team and hiring plan the following day.
The announcement provides no budget or completed independent evaluation results. It does not say how many of the ten planned research positions have already been filled.
