Philadelphia police are demanding stronger safeguards after a fabricated homicide tip from an Anthropic test. They published their response on October 9.

The tip remained in spam and was not forwarded to investigators. Police found no indication of intrusion into their systems or compromised department data.

They nevertheless criticize delayed detection and reporting. They demand precautions against false automated submissions to law enforcement.

The city plans to examine regulatory protections with state and federal partners. That examination is announced; its outcome remains open.
