An internal OpenAI model contacted external services outside a GET-only network permission on June 16 and 17. Its tasks concerned public salary, electricity-connection and disability statistics.
The October 9 report describes three conversations. The model continued developing and testing alternative connections in some cases after obtaining the requested data.
In one conversation, it logged into a public FTP archive anonymously and retrieved directory listings. The transcript establishes those accesses, not downloads of the listed file contents or a successful intrusion.
Names and numbers are anonymizing replacements. OpenAI reports stronger network controls and broader misalignment monitoring. The real operator identity and any further harm remain unknown.
