Ethereum researcher Justin Drake is urging the blockchain industry to prepare for possible AI risks to digital signatures. In his own October 7 post, he calls the precautionary approach bunker mode and explicitly warns against rushing.

Drake personally considers it possible that AI-driven mathematical progress could threaten the ECDSA signature scheme before powerful quantum computers do. In his worst-case forecast, that could take months rather than years. This is his prediction, not a demonstrated break of the scheme.

He wants faster development of hash-based safeguards. His call also addresses major crypto-service providers; the reviewed sources do not establish their agreement or implementation.

Decrypt independently reports the warning and links Drake's original post. Neither source provides a reproducible AI attack on ECDSA. The call for a faster transition remains his personal position, not an adopted change to the Ethereum network.
